The Winterset Dance Team competed at the 2018 state dance competition that was held on November 30th, and December 1st, at Wells Fargo Arena and Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines. This year’s competition involved more than 270 high school dance teams performing over 500 routines during the two-day competition. Each team was judged by an expert panel of judges from across the country. The judges’ scores are based on appearance, choreography, execution, technique and general effect/showmanship.
The Winterset Dance Team earned first place in the Class VI Hip Hop division, second place in the Class II Novelty dvision and third place in the Class X Pom division. In addition to performing well, the team was also awarded an excellence in academics award for having a cumulative team GPA of between a 3.0-3.49.
This year’s team members include Maddi Bosier, Rachel Brown, Kayle Eivins, Jillian Jacobsen, Lily Jones, Kaitlyn Mapes, Karlie Pike, and Emiliegh Weir.
